Welcome

Here you will learn how to make curves using the pentool in Adobe Photoshop CS2. You can also use other versions too as long as it has the pentool. I'm currently unsure about how many parts this tutorial will have
but please look forward to part 2.

Tutorial written by Crystal
This tutorial has not been tested

Description: How to make one simple curve in different sizes and directions.
This lesson difficulty is: Easy
Note*- All of these use the same basic technique. So if you learned how to make a curve using the first curve it is not neccessary to take the other lessons. Those are there for more practice. If you are a beginner you should start at number one and work towards number six. Or until you get the feel for how to work the pentool.

Instructions:
1. Choose the lesson template in which you want to learn how to make.
Lessons Templates:
  • Small curve: upwards - [Here]
  • Small curve: downwards - [Here]
  • Medium curve: upwards - [Here]
  • Medium curve: downwards - [Here]
  • Large curve: upwards- [Here]
  • Large curve: downwards - [Here]
2. Once you have choosen the template, open up photoshop and create a new document.
3. Copy and paste the choosen template into it and create a new layer.
4. Make sure you are on the new layer. Then using the pentool first start at the green point that is closest to the word 'start' by clicking and dragging the pentool following the direction of the arrow to the second green point and let the mouse go.
5. Now there should be a gray pentool line there with three points on it. Like this: [Here]
6. Now move the pentool to the red point that is closest to the word 'end' and drag the pentool following the direction of the arrow to to the second red point and let the mouse go.
7. There should be another gray pentool curved line and it should look like this: [Here]
8. Next right click on the image and a drop down menu should open. Select 'Stroke Path...' Here's what it would look like: [Here]
9. A window will open after you select 'Stroke Path...' Here you should make sure it is selected to 'brush'. The 'Stimulate Pressure' box should be checked. Then click 'ok'.
10. Once you click 'ok' a curved line should show up. Now hit the backspace/delete button to get rid of the gray pentool lines. Delete the template and you can see that you have made a curve. Like this: [Here]

That's it. Repeat the instructions for the other templates if neccessary.

2. Then copy the image and paste in the image in to Photoshop.
3. Once in Photoshop open up a new layer.
4. Using the pentool, start by clicking on the green dot that is next to the word 'start' and dragging it to the next green dot.
5. Now click on the midpoint dot and drag to the yellow dot. This will create the first curve.
6. Next click on the red dot that is next to the word 'end' and drag to the second red dot. This will create the second curve.
7. Next right click on the image and a drop down menu should open. Select 'Stroke Path...'.
8. A window will open after you select 'Stroke Path...' Here you should make sure it is selected to 'brush'. The 'Stimulate Pressure' box should be checked. Then click 'ok'.
